The WoodWordSon was created to share simple DIY builds — the steps, the challenges, and the wins of everyday projects. The mission is simple: to encourage beginner woodworkers to start their own projects with confidence. With decades of DIY experience, I've got something to share to help make your journey a good one. There's a real sense of accomplishment at the end of every project, no matter how small. When we create, we reflect our Ultimate Creator, who placed special gifts in each of us. Part of the joy of this life is discovering those gifts, developing them, and putting them to use — for ourselves and for the people around us. So let's build with that in mind.

My Passion

Hi there — my name is Dez. I'm passionate about becoming the person I was created to be. I thrive on learning and pushing boundaries, and as a husband and father, I've come to value knowledge and the doors it opens. Since I was a young teenager, I've had a passion for DIY — especially woodworking, tools, and gadgets.

Now I'm thrilled to share what I've learned over decades to help you reach your own project goals. Everyone starts as a beginner. I did too. But with a little faith and some action — what I call a DIY attitude — we get better, one project at a time. I've always been fascinated by plants and trees, so I love to plant and reap. And I get a satisfaction that's hard to put into words from crafting something out of wood.

Behind the Name

Wood — I'm fascinated by plants and trees. Every summer I enjoy the work of planting and reaping. And there's a priceless satisfaction in crafting something worthwhile out of wood.

Word — I'm a student of the Bible, also called the Word of God. Every time I read the Bible, I'm being shaped by the Word, through the love of my Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ.

Son — Through Him, I've been named a child — a son — of God. My primary goal in this life is to imitate my Creator, the Ultimate Creator.
